We have also expanded the pre-order list. Due to the high level of demand, a few of the colours have sold out in most sizes – racing green, plum, soot and indigo. I am in my mid 30s, a teacher in a rural area in Germany and most of my colleagues do not care much about their appearance. In order not to look to alienlike, I now skipped the tie when wearing – what you call it – real trousers. In the fall I am now at trousers, shirt, knitwear and dark brown shoes. What do I still lack is a proper headgear, because a hat would yet again seem to far away. However, since I have a bald head, I’m desperately looking for something appropriate as the days are getting colder.
What would you suggest?

I have a similar issue – I need something for winter as a matter of practicality, rather than style. The problem is, there is no easy formal/informal crossover. A trilby is too formal for most people, but the alternatives – tweed cap principally, and certainly beanie – are too casual. I would suggest that if you’re interested in proper hats, try a trilby in a soft, unlined make, like my Traveller from Locks (http://www.permanentstyle.com/2014/01/mens-hats-for-winter.html#.VBIACi5dU00). I usually wear that, and then a nice beanie (cashmere, relatively thin) when I’m not wearing a jacket etc.
The only alternative is to try all the permutations of cap (tweed, moleskin, cord; peaks, sizes, constructions) until you find something that is the right middle ground for you. I’ve tried lots, but never found them satisfying as an everyday option. Hence, trilby or beanie.

It seems the Finagon has now been discontinued, sadly, and replaced by the ‘classic fit’ Stavely. Any comment re the difference in fit. If anyone knows where I can get a small Finagon in midnight navy blue please let me know!
