Last week John Carnera at Cleverley’s had a pair of his shoes, dating back to 1987, in for a resole. John doesn’t work full time any more, but still helps out with a bit of the pattern cutting and repairs. See his work on my Cleverley shoes here.
People talk about shoes gaining character with age. That’s a whole cast there!
Really good to see that expensive shoes really will be cheaper in the long run.

My father and uncle both still wear their ‘de-mob’ shoes from 1947; although being farmers they probably only get an outing five times a year. And I still have a pair of Wildsmiths brown wingtip brogues from 1983 going strong.

Great value indeed although I would make the case that cordovan/krupp leather endures evens better than calf, imo.
