For regular readers of this blog, you may be interested to know that my grandfather was wearing his Macclesfield tie deliberately at my wedding this summer (see posting on 31 December 2007).

The traditions we read about do live on. See photo above for a shot of his particular take on the Macclesfield.

Having read about your Grandfather’s tie a long time ago, I’ve just stumbled upon the link to this charming photograph. Very impressed that he wore the Macclesfield deliberately without learning about it from Permanent Style online! On that note, I’m getting married myself in November and after a lot of searching could only find a Macclesfield on No Man Walks Alone. I will be wearing a dark navy suit (I did ring WandS but as am getting married quickly didn’t have enough time for the pale grey I would have liked to be made), with black Edward Green double monks…but am torn between a navy and white or black and white Bigi tie. Would you mind advising on which one you think would work best? Many thanks Simon!
