Correct Noel, it's the openness of the weave. If you look at something like the Porter & Harding 'Thornproof' bunch, which is much more made for suitings, it's not that heavy (12/13oz) but it's much denser

They would, you're right. It depends on how hot the weather will be - in India or Italy I'd worry, in the UK it would be fine. Equally, depends how much you're outside and how much inside in A/C Personally I'd for something lighter, more…

I don't know any actually Dan, they're mostly made for jackets. The undyed collection from Marling & Evans has some good coatings in it, but there's nothing this colour

The embroidered symbol is the one thing I *don’t* like about that jacket!
It’s a Chinese character, the Japanese borrowed it from us. Just so you know.
I see another pocket above the ticket pocket and I’m guessing that’s an element of satorial flair? I have never seen something like that before!
This jacket is just amazing !
Thanks to Cifonelli for bringing a modern touch in the tailor’s universe…
Lovely cloth and shape but the pockets are overdone. And the lapel embroidery reveals a barely-repressed urge to add a logo. Miserable.
wonderfull picture and really creative work.
thanks for sharing masterpieces like this!
Looks horrible and the chinese character for love爱 is a little boyband gay. Still, different strokes…..
This jacket is just amazing! I love that chinese character!
I am a long time reader of your blog.
I am heading to Japan and I was wondering about Japanese tailors. Are there any local tailors that you recommend I could check out while I am there (type: Camps de Luca, Cifonelli, Caraceni) ? I have heard it is less expensive than in Europe. Is it interesting to have suits made there ?
Thanks for your help.
Certainly some good tailors and a bit cheaper, though I haven’t tried any personally so can’t really recommend directly
