Hello lovely readers,

Here’s our regular update on what’s coming into the PS Shop over the next few months.

We’ve included the information we have, but feel free to ask questions if you have them, as chances are someone else is thinking the same, and it’s good to have them all here, rather than emailed individually.

As per usual, keep in mind that some timings might change, but we’re trying to be a little bit more conservative to avoid overruns. There may also be one or two new launches which have yet to be confirmed and will drop into this season.

Remember that a lot of shop updates are now done through the dedicated emails rather than PS articles. The PS cloth didn’t ever get a full article, for example, even though it involved some changes with distribution and location. Sign up to that list here if you want to keep in touch on everything. We try to limit the amount of emails we are sending and combine restock announcements.

Thanks, can’t wait to get these wonderful coats and knits out there.

Hi Simon, for the new oxford colors will you be selling also the cloth or just the RTW shirts? Thanks!

Daniel

Hello Simon,

Is there not going to be a new color for the English Tweed Coat?

Also, is the new coat (outerwear?) project the only brand new product scheduled to release this fall/winter?

Kent

Will price stay at £917 plus VAT?

Alex

Hey Simon – like the updated bridge coat pictures. What shoes are you wearing with them?

Alex

Thank you. I think in a previous article you compared these to more casual boots from Anglo Italian. Do you still like/use the AI boots?

Alex

Thank you Simon. I hope I’m not being a pain with all the questions. The thrust of your other article was that the AI boots worked well as a casual alternative to sneakers, and so you had paired them with chinos and a hoodie. Would the Edward Green boots or those with a slim profile would be too smart for that?

Tore

Thanks for the update! You say the reversible suede bomber will be restocked in navy – does that mean there will be no restock of the brown? Also, the Dartmoor sweater seems to have disappeared from the shop page – hopefully this is just a bug, and no indication it has been discontinued?

Tore

Noted, thanks!

Charles

Any plans for selling the Japanese Denim cloth as well?

Richard

Hi Simon,
Exciting news, though I’m not looking forward to the end of summer just yet.
Can you tell me what denim shirt you’re wearing with the bridge coat?
Cheers

Joners

Simon, how many of these Westerners do you have? The only drawback is they are very slim through the abdomen.

Carl

Nice!

Fortunately (for my wallet and wardrobe space) I already have most covered.

But I am thinking about a formal overcoat. I own two that unfortunately isnt perfect. One navy DB where the cloth is a bit too light in weight and one Loro Piana Martingala topcoat (bought on sale, Im not a billionaire) that is too short and I dislike the collar.

I own the raglan overcoat in cream-black (light grey). Its good most of the time but maybe not for the most formal occasions. Do you think that the ”new navy” raglan is as formal as you need for business formal?

And at the same time. Is the new undescribed outerwear a formal overcoat that can be what I am looking for?

Kent

Have you thought about offering a formal navy DB like your B&Tailor coat reviewed in March? Manish suggested a few RTW options last December but some are not available now, e.g. New & Lingwood and Anglo Italian.

Grant

Simon, would I be able to try a wax walker for size at the London pop up?

Stephen

Hi Simon, A useful update, it a good idea to do them.
Is the first picture the Bridge coat?
Perhaps you will consider making something similar in full length. Along the lines of your collaboration with the Anthology?
That looks a superb coat, I’m just a bit cautious about ordering something that needs to travel around the world. Drakes did something similar a while back (not this version, this season) , but did quite get the details right.
On the Navy PS raglan, Just for readers info. I have something in a not dissimilar style in a covert cloth from Caruso for Trunk (about 5 years ago), which I have found extremely versatile and especially in an urban environment, as you described, so I would expect and hope yours will be popular.
All the best.

TT

Plus one for the interest in a more full length overcoat in a similar design language to bridge coat or your Sexton greatcoat.

Simone

no yellow oxford at all?

Vidit

Hey Simon,

The Dartmoor seems to have been removed from the website. Will it be restocked? Is it sold out?

Marshall

Hi Simon, thanks for the update. Are there any plans to restock the Dark Brown Donegal coat this year? Thanks!

JB

Really excited about the new navy colorway. A bit afraid of the black mentioned, but based on the picture, that’s really just noticable up close, adding to the darkening effect?
Also happy to see it’s a smoother merino, sounds like exactly what I’ve been after.

Jackson

Hey Simon

Got a brown donegal. Had my eye on the English tweed for a while and am considering potentially either getting it for this winter.

However, the elusive new mention… is this something that I will regret not going for the English tweed? Or does it fill a very different space in a wardrobe?

Lachie

Hi Simon. What colours will be on offer for the suede overshirts? Will it be possible to order remotely?

Joners

Simon,
In terms of the weight and the handle of the cloth, how does your Bridge coat compare with the pea coats from Real McCoy and even Buzz Rickson.
Does anyone have experience if not you?

Pavel

Hello Simon,

Are the two new PS Oxford colors distinct from any of the previous ones you’ve offered? And do you anticipate restocking other Oxford colors, such as yellow or pink, this autumn or winter?

Also are you expecting the Wax Walker restock early or later in September?

Thank you!

Pavel

Will the yellow and pink RTW shirts also be restocked alongside the cloth?

Matt L

This is good news to me Simon! I’m looking forward to their return.

J

Hi Simon,

Would it be possible to get the make and model of the denim western shirt you’re wearing under the Bridge Coat in the last photo?

Romain

Thanks for this update Simon.
Very excited about the new navy Donegal. Exactly what I’m looking for. I love the the flecked version but I need to be able to wear the coat into the office with a suit and tie.
I was also hopping the Ps motor trench would be restocked but I assume it is being discontinued for the time being. The rider’s raincoat looks amazing though and I am fan of more simple styles. I just liked the idea of the removable liner which enabled to wear the coat all year long (but at the same time made unaffordable to many). And also a big fan of Ventile.
Can’t wait!

James

Lovely range Simon, have you ever thought about re-creating something like this vintage suede popover from Hermès?

https://www.permanentstyle.com/2022/10/wear-loafers-with-jeans.html

James

Colour could something similar but a bit more subdued, closer to a deep khaki, the yellow tinge really works nicely over faded denim and other trousers. I like that style because it feels a bit more casual than the suede jacket and it looks like something you can just throw on.

James

A colour similar to the suede overshirt would look great!

AKG

Congratulations Simon on such a comprehensive list of product line up for launches in the next few months.

I meant to ask – you had a full sleeve polo also – don’t know what it is called – which I don’t see any more on your site. Or am I mistaken? If I am not, do you plan to bring it back?

Thx
AKG

CK

Hey Simon,

always look forward to this time of year and the shop update.

The new Raglan. I’ve watched the years go by and many iterations pass, I actually bought the grey however sold that (at nearly retail price, reflects how popular it is!) simply because it was just a little light in colour for me. Last years navy, I thought it was ‘the one’ but again, the slight colour speckles in the weave weren’t really for me, beautiful as it was.

HOWEVER! This years navy that both yourself and PWVC have now showed us a glimpse of, man, this is just perfection for me. It’s alot of money in my world Simon, so I ask as you’re the one that designed it and have no doubt tried with many outfits – does it work just as well with a flannel suit as it would with say a nice pair of denim/chinos and a pair of Vibergs?

Thanks man,
CK

CK

Thanks Simon, admit I’m stretching it a little far on that one. If we change the Viberg to say, an Alden Indy or cap toe in Color 8, with denim/chinos – does that sound closer to the mark?

Misbah

Simon

Off topic post, but I struggled to work out where to post.
An excellent article in the FT titled How I made my own ‘Chanel’ jackets. Behind a paywall. https://www.ft.com/content/03761498-f70e-4b64-b970-e15a1202166a

Regards

Daniel

Hey Simon,

For a winter Navy coat – would you say the Bridge Coat or the upcoming Navy Herringbone raglan would work better for casual combinations with jeans and knitwear?

Ben

Hi Simon, what is the weight of the PS plaid cloth in the new lambswool version? Thank you.

Jonathan F.

Simon, the Donegal coat is just the style I’m looking for, however I️ almost always wear brown shoes with casual clothes like an OCBD, shetland sweater in many colors and jeans/chinos. Do you like the light gray/black-and-creme herringbone cloth with brown shoes and outfits that go with them? Thanks!

Anonymous

Hello Simon – in regard to the new navy/black Donegal Coat being released in October, would that work for smart occasions such as with a suit, as well as bridge smart/casual occasions of course? Thanks!

David

Heya Simon, question regarding the raglan coats. Yours is a fair bit slimmer than a lot of others in the market. Based on your preferences lately for a more comfortable fit, would you ever size up to a large?

CK

David, this is a good point you raise. Simon, might we expect you to be wearing a large in the article shots?
I had the grey in a medium, it was nice. However, looking at the dimensions of the large, I think it might try a large for the navy. A little more volume and drape in the chest would be nice, might just need the sleeves and length altered a touch.

MBB355

Any chance the black Indulgent Shawl Cardigan will return? I was always fond of that one.

Jake

Simon – Have you considered offering the Dartmoor or Finest Crew Neck in other colors beyond the colder navy, charcoal and grey? I’m picturing greens, browns, tans, etc. Also not sure if there are plans to offer the charcoal Dartmoor this season after the factory snafu? Thanks

MBB355

For what it’s worth, the dark olive is my most worn Dartmoor. The grey is nice, but I wear grey trousers often, which limit its usefulness. The navy is a bit too rich beneath a jacket, which is how I prefer wearing the Dartmoor. The cream would be my favorite except I wear them over undershirts, and the cream is see-through enough that the undershirt is visible beneath it. But the olive is perfect–works with navy, dark brown, and beige jackets as well as grey trousers, beige chinos, or indigo or black jeans.

MBB355

I love it. Still feels classic but just different enough to be interesting. Very PS in that way

Richard

I second MBB355, one of my favourite ps items and definitely the most worn. Great with pretty much every pair of trousers I own and especially worn more casually in summer with white/cream cords/jeans.

Malcolm

hi simon
in your post on Friday 26th July here you mentioned a restock of the tapered t-shirt on the Monday. Did I miss it? And it’s not mentioned in this article, so I guess I probably did miss the restock?
malcolm

Malcolm

Any idea on another restock?

Kent

Is there any chance of Private White VC participating in the London pop-up? It would give visitors a valuable opportunity to try on some pieces with PS coats and jackets, especially those in thre collaboration range. It would also be useful to know if any other brands will be participating too.

Colin

Hi Simon, any plans to restock the pink stripe Oxford cloth along with the two new Oxford cloths in November? I just tried to order and it is now sold out.

Thanks!

Rory

Hi Simon, I know it’s the wrong time of year back home and I had thought I had registered for the waitlist emails but may not have. The PS shorts, is there any plans for us to see them available again in the near future and if not, is there a brand & model you’d advise that would be as similar as possible please? It’s coming into summer in Australia and hoping to get a few pairs. Thanks

Markus S

No wonder that the PS shorts have sold out. For me they really hit the target (not too long, not too shorts, can be dressed up or down, quality excellent – I am a big Rota fan).

I have the beige and green and looking forward to buying the navy ones next year.

Tom

Hi Simon

Given the weather in London this morning I expect you will be getting a lot of interest in the rider’s raincoat (which I can see is already available on the Drake’s website in its original colour). Are you able to share what the new colour will be?

Cheers

W

Hi Simon,
Really excited to see the new dark navy Donegal, and to hear more about the new outerwear piece! Also, since it’s my first time to comment on your site (despite a few years of reading!) I ought to say thank you for all the invaluable content over the years. You should take a lot of pride in the virtual community you have grown here – the comments and discussions are a little online oasis of genuine curiosity, civil exchange, and respectful disagreement. Bravo for setting and maintaining the perfect tone. You (and of course the many erudite regular contributors) do us all a great and valuable service!
I have some questions about the Rider’s Raincoat, and coats in general, which I will post under the relevant article.

Andy

Hey Simon,

Referring back to your launch articles of the charcoal and the brown donegal, it says the charcoal cloth is 620g and the brown 800g.

I was therefore wondering if its still the same weight for both as I am planning some cut length…

Neil Gadhok

Hi are you restocking the Dartmoor? Thanks

Ashwin

Hi Simon,
Will the dark navy/black cloth for the new donegal overcoat be made available for purchase like the other colors? Thanks!

Alex

Would the new Donegal look good with one of your grey herringbone jackets (ie double herringbone albeit in a different colour). Assume the answer is yes but interested in your view.

Ben

How much is the Dartmoor? (Doing some budgeting for the various PS items I would like to buy when funds allow!). Thanks

Steven

Hi Simon, I’m about to buy some form of rain coat….unless I should hold off for the time being? And if I shouldnt hold off, has anything good or interesting caught your eye? I find London never gets super cold, it does get damp. A SC keeps me warm enough generally under a raincoat, particularly if I have PS finest crewneck + scarf underneath.
Any suggestions or ideas greatly appreciated!
Steven.

JP

I too am looking for a raincoat; excited for this new colour.
However, did I read a comment that you’re currently developing a new product with PWVC (I could have imagined this, or might be conflating it with the new colour of the Donegal)?
If so, would this new PWVC occupy a similar area to the Rider’s, or is it something completely difference (i.e. would it go over a jacket)?
Thank you.

JP

Thanks, Simon, for letting me know.

Carl

A question.
I am thinking about the new Navy Raglan Coat that will arriwe in October. I get that you wont communicate all details in advance but how ”tough” will the cloth be. Will it handle rain and wind as well as the ones in Donegal tweed?

Gilles

Hi Simon, very useful update, thank you. With regards to the cashmere crewneck, you mention the delivery of pre-orders, but for those like me who haven’t pre-ordered them, will there be available stock? Do you have an approximate date in mind?

Mike

Hi Simon,
Is the hand-framed cotton sweater being re-stocked in cream this year, or next year?

Thank you!

Romain

Hi Simon, do you reckon the new navy Donegal will fit with a navy suit thanks to the herringbone pattern? I’m just a bit weary of the color block effect.
Cheers

Ben

Hi Simon, just wondering if the new outerwear product mentioned in the September section above is still on track to be released this month? Just trying to budget any larger purchases as much as possible, thanks!

Gab

Hi Simon, I guess as usual the products will be first available on PS and then on PWVC’s site?

Gab

Hi Simon, out of curiosity, what is your favourite PS product even, the one you are post proud of? Either because of its quality, of the gap it fills, or of the time and effort it took to get it exactly how you wanted it to be

Gab

I own a navy rugby and it is fantastic indeed. Can you tell us when the restock is due to arrive, early or late October? (Also trying to schedule my big purchases…). Thanks Simon

Brian

Hi Simon, can you remind me which size you take in the Oxford shirts please?
Would you still expect shrinkage if washed at 30 degrees and if a tumble drier isn’t used? I ask as the dimensions of a large would work for me if there wasn’t too much shrinkage. The XL just looks too big, even if it did shrink.

Markus S.

This is very interesting. My favourite PS product I have bought so far is the Oxford Shirt in light blue. The shade of blue could not be better and more versatile. This followed by the t-shirts and the PS shorts.

Daniel

Hey Simon,

My local store has Drakes Ecru Cotton Canvas Choir jacket in my size. Last one and I love it.

But the items you release are always my favorite, and I am worried I will purchase this and your new outerwear project will come out and I might end up regretting it if it is similar in design and color. I know you cannot say much, but do you think I’m safe in buying Drakes Chore?

Edward

Hi Simon – I’m looking forward to the New York pop-up. Do you have an estimate of how much the MTM suede overshirt will be? I tried on a lovely Purple Label one but unfortunately the sleeves were too long. MTM would be the best option.

BC

Hi Simon,
When do you anticipate the Arran scarf in olive and the Dartmoors coming on?

BC

I purchased the olive, and it’s fantastic. Do you think supplies of the natural and clay gray will hold out if I wait until December for another purchase (watching my budget)?

BC

Thank you. I’m trying to decide on the natural versus the clay gray; it’s hard to judge from the images whether the natural is sufficiently cold/neutral to pair with dark charcoals, greys, etc., and also whether the clay would go with browns/tans. Any advice? I realize the navy or other grey might be more versatile, but I doubt I’d wear either much because they’re either too like trousers or coats I’d wear them with.

Alex

Hi Simon,

Coming with a style question as we head into fall here in the mountains in the US.

I’m about to order a few made to order Gitman Vintage oxford shirts. I want something that is casual but smart (don’t want to look like I took a dress shirt and tried to dress it down) that I can wear with jeans or chinos when working from home, a coffee shop, playing with the kids at the park etc. (I live in a ski town so trying to keep it a bit mountainy but still put together)

The question comes to deciding on shirt pockets. Would you go traditional left pocket, no pocket, or any other variation to keep the shirt looking causal?

Let me know your thoughts.

Best,
Alex

DB

Interesting little topic.
My two cents, for whatever they’re worth: For shirts I may wear with a (tailored) jacket, I prefer no pocket. This includes dress shirts, obviously, but also button downs in more casual fabrics that still have a robust enough collar to pair with a jacket — oxfords, chambray, etc. I’ll still wear those shirts without a jacket, but that’s not optimal. With no jacket, I think a pocket looks slightly better because it’s somewhat more casual. (Under knitwear it doesn’t really make a difference to me.)
Two pockets can look good, especially as you say with a tougher material. For that look I’d probably adopt other aspects of the work shirt design as well — probably a point collar, maybe a somewhat looser fit.
Another option for a more casual button down is a single flap pocket. It’s a bit more casual and, I think, more interesting than a normal pocket. I don’t know what associations it would carry in the UK, but here in the US J. Press has sold this design forever so it looks very normal.

DB

Haha very true. I suppose what I meant to convey is that the maximal value was two cents, but I can’t warrant even that!

One other point in response to Alex — Gitman Vintage should be a good choice for the casual look he’s aiming for. They use an unlined construction on the collar that should avoid dress-associations regardless of these minor style points.

Viktor K

Hi Simon
The length shown for the Wax Walker on the Private White VC website is almost exactly 3cm more than what is shown on the PS Shop. Do you know if that’s because they just haven’t updated their website? Or are they not yet carrying this year’s version?
I have a discount voucher from another purchase I made with them so would get a small saving over the PS Shop, but the length of the one I tried on at William Crabtree a few days ago was perfect, so wouldn’t want the longer version.

Viktor K

You are right. I hadn’t tried it before but having just done so on the PWVC website, it says that the discount is not valid for this product (Wax Walker). Problem solved!

Colin

Hey Simon! Are the design changes on the latest batch of oxfords intentional or inadvertent (or do I have a faulty version)? Specifically the placket is one less layer of fabric and the pleats at the cuff are now a box pleat. The cuff pleats are fine, but I find that the placket is much more floppy and doesn’t hold its shape as well compared to previous iterations.

MBB355

I think I should know this already and I’m sure it’s been said, so apologies, but will the Cashmere Rugby be restocked in dark brown? I hope yes but I think the answer is no, although it’s still up in the PS Shop (albeit out of stock). Thanks!

Anush Sureshbabu

Hi Simon, unfortunately went to order the bridge coat after trying it on at the pop-up and my size is sold out. Any sense on when the next restock will be?

Krzysztof

Hi. Has the Arran scarf in dark navy fully sold out or do you expect a restock this winter?

Krzysztof

That’s impressive, another product after Allevol T-shirts selling off in less than 1 hour! That’s actually good, I will have something to wait for next year 😉 And besides natural colour looks great on pictures with the bridge coat.

Nick

Hi Simon – Any update on the Dartmoor sweaters? Sounds like it’s taking a bit longer to get those pressing issues sorted. Hope all is well at the factory!

Nick

Hi Simon – Any sense of when there will be more stock in the New Friday Polo? Any chance you might release one in black? How different are they from the “Friday Polo” featured on the LA website? Thanks very much!

James

Hi Simon,
I might be misremembering some old article’s comments about a potential PS baseball cap.

Does that look like something will come to fruition?

James

Are there any plans to restock the red watch cap or will that be next year?
